- Liu Ren, born in Qinhuangdao in 1980, graduated with a Master of Arts in photography from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in China. At present she lives in Beijing’s arts district, working as a professional artist.
- She is part of a young generation of upcoming Chinese artists who are making their mark in the world of modern art. She previously had exhibitions in Beijing, Seoul, Paris, Rotterdam, Virginia, Toronto, London, New York and Dallas .
- Dreams are the main theme in her works. By using advanced software she mixes her own childhood memories with elements of the modern day China, creating an imaginary world. Water, clouds and tide are recurring visual elements in Liu's work and refer to her childhood which she spent in the coastal town of Qinhuangdao.
- These images of her memories are mixed with the impressive architecture in Beijing .The end result is both impressive and mysterious, it shows a reality that only exists in dreams.
